Tectonic shifts. Sea changes.

The new album by TLIOF, entitled "Works on Paper", will be released in Spring 2011. So far the album contains 14 tracks, 3 of which are a "triptych" encompassing the character of "Hypnos" - whose attributes are lifted from the codename of Rene Char's wartime persona. The theme or themes of the album are more poignant than previous works by The Library is On Fire. Survival, the anarchy of love, and the mystery of creation are all present in this album. There is a gravity present that has not before been seen in TLIOF's work.

Track Listing is as follows (in no particular order):

Hypnos Waking
Basquiat
Jewels in Yr Eyes
(They don't know you like) I Know You
Fly Sucka On The Score
Hypnos Waiting
Burn it Down
Spray Painted Life
This is Why The Wind Blows
The Broken Guitar
Stranded on Monster Island
Stupid Summer Morning
Rothko
Hypnos Returns

The first set of songs have been tracked with Todd Tobias at Waterloo Studios in Ohio. Next week the band will head to Pie Studios in Long Island with Perry Margouleff to track the final songs and mix the record. We've had a few guests on this album. Jamie Stillman of Earthquaker Devices, guitarist for Party of Helicopters, plays guitar on a few of the tracks. Cory Race plays percussion on a few tracks as well, and Hayley Bennett tracked Cello on quite a few of the songs.

Fred Kevorkian (Willy Nelson, Sonic Youth, White Stripes) will be mastering the album.

The sound on "Works on Paper" isn't quite a departure from "Magic Windows, Magic Nights", but more of a blending of the first two albums from TLIOF, combining the heavy guitar sprawl of MWMN with the eclectic instrumentation of "Cassette". We are very excited.

More to come.
